WORKSHOPS APPLICATION

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Please note: You must have a signed waiver of liability to participate in a dance/athletic workshop. Waivers will become available once workshop acceptances are issued.

What should I include in my application video?

Videos showcasing vocal performance should be performed with a track or live accompaniment since you will be working with an accompanist in the room. Please make sure your voice can be heard over the music. If you are performing an audition cut, make sure that the section you’re submitting is the part of the song that best showcases your ability. We must be able to pick out your individual voice (no choral pieces or ensemble numbers unless the applicant is a soloist. In this case, please specify which singer is the applicant.)

Videos showcasing dance performances should feature crisp and clear movements so we can get a sense of your ability. Dance applications should also demonstrate the ability to execute choreography (audition pieces should not be improvised.) If multiple dancers are visible in the video, please specify which dancer is the applicant.

When should I arrive for my workshop? Will I be allowed to leave early?

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the workshop. To minimize interruptions to the workshop, there will be no late entry allowed and no re-entry if you leave.

Can workshop acceptances be transferred to someone else?

Workshops are non-transferrable. If you have any questions about your acceptances or if you know you will not be able to attend, please email programming@broadwaycon.com.

Are parents allowed to observe their children in workshops?

Attendees under the age of 18 will receive a guardian observer admission with their workshop acceptance. Please be sure to indicate your age in your workshop application..

How are attendees chosen for workshops?

Workshop participants are chosen based on a review of their application materials by the BroadwayCon staff. The criteria for selection may be different for each workshop and is determined in conference with the teaching artist who is teaching the workshop.

Why is workshop attendance limited?

The number of participants will be determined by the teaching artist and based on how much time they are able to spend with each performer. The number of observers will be limited based on space constraints and in order to create an intimate, safe environment for the participants.

If I’m selected to observe, is there a chance I’ll be chosen to participate?

All observers willing to participate should come prepared just in case a participant does not arrive and forfeits their spot.

Do I need to have a ticket to BroadwayCon to go to a workshop?

Yes. Workshops are only open to ticketed BroadwayCon attendees. You must have a ticket for the date of your workshop in order to attend the workshop.
